I am very passionate on the mind-body-spirit connection and how stress plays a big factor in our health. The law is that every action has an equal and oposing reaction. Applying that to massage therapy frequires knowlege of the reflexes that the body has to each movment. You may know that a normal body will lift the left arm to balance lifting the right leg. There are myryads of much smaller reflexes that may be stressed by injury or imbalance in the body.

City Center Massage is located in the center of downtown Seattle and offers deep tissue, triggerpoint therapy for stress, injuries and wellness massage. Deep tissue massage accesses the deeper structural layers of the body which are the major support systems of the body. Keeping the muscles there in alignment and in a relaxed state can help to reduce stress on the joints and other muscles.

Tight muscles are usually the cause of pain and can lead to further injury or problems in health. A tight muscle is a weak muscle. When a muscle is tight, the fibers of the muscles are ’stuck’ together resulting in the lack of ability for the muscle fibers to slide against each other which causes movement. A knot is a collection of tight muscle fibers that can lead to discomfort and misalignment of posture. It can also be a part of depression and anxiety related conditions and can also lead to physical conditions such as carpal tunnel and more serious conditions.

Julie Onofrio, LMP has been trained extensively in these different types of massage and has been doing massage for over 20 years in downtown Seattle.
